What is steel cord rubber
Steel cord rubber is calendered uncured rubber with an embedded steel cord. As it is not vulcanized, it keeps its reprocessing ability, and the steel reinforcement gives it a strength that rubber alone does not have. It usually comes as sheet, roll or coil, just as it leaves the calendering line at the tyre factory.
Where it comes from
It is post-industrial material. It comes from tyre production lines, before curing, when the compound has already been calendered with the steel reinforcement but has not yet been vulcanized. That makes it a raw material, not a used-tyre waste.
